I chose the hotel carefully. Not for the romance, and not just for the comfort, but for the atmosphere. There were four of them. Two I knew, two I didn’t, whom I’d asked just a few hours earlier. I liked that balance. A little trust, a little unpredictability. I didn’t want to feel everyone at once, but each one individually, and I let them all come deep inside me, and I loved it. My husband wasn’t there. He didn’t belong in the room. Just before it all began, I sent him a message and a photo. Enough for him to know that the evening was continuing without him.
